"How do you not remember the names of everybody who was in your fifth grade class? You went to school with them all every day for months! Same thing. Tony Stark interacts with a lot of people in his life, and from his POV, Mary Jane and even Peter wouldn’t have been so important or life-changing that he’d necessarily remember everything about them years later." Come on, there are better arguments than that. You must be able to tell how that's a bad comparison.

In what way is that a bad comparison (apart from your fifth grade class not all being comic book characters that you care about, and so assume that the other characters must care about as avidly)?

If you say this is the case, then so be it. I’ll say this though; no reading I have of Tony’s relationship with MJ and especially Peter, has me walking away, thinking their interaction should be of so little consequence.

What it does do, is further cement in my mind, character traits that remove his humanity. I interpret it to mean he puts very little value on most individual people, if this interaction had so little value. These are the people he is looking out for, as a hero. Looking down on ants might not be the correct analogy, but it’s also not a total mismatch.

Now, I’m OK with this. It fits into the basic framework for my Tony Stark interpretation. But then again, I don’t think he is the brand you guys should be hanging the company on, either.
